Back from Davao

February 24, 2010

I just got back today from Davao where I attended our annual Singles For Christ International Conference (SFC ICON). Its 3 days of listening, communicating and worshiping God. Our theme and anchor verse is from Colossians 2:6-7, “6 And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. 7 Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” My personal message for this conference is to live full-on for Christ with no compromise and be obedient to his will.  I am also blessed and thankful that I was able to share this experience with my household or small bible study group that I lead together with Pam, my household partner. After Sunday’s final conference session, we toured around Davao thanks to Sheila. Here’s a sneak peak of what’s to come.

Dan works full-time for Gawad Kalinga (GK) and Junie and I  had a chance to serve with him during the  2007 GK Bayani Challenge. So when Dan asked me to shoot his wedding, I did not hesitate to blessed this wonderful couple and thankfully my schedule was still open.

Dan and Colleen’s love story is one of the most unique I’ve encountered. Although they both belong to our community, Single’s for Christ, they only knew each other from a distance. Eventually, Dan found the courage to reach out and talk to Colleen through Facebook and they started talking a lot online. Eventually their friendship blossomed and within a month’s time of getting to know each other, they became engaged. Talk about fast! but I guess when you meet “the one” that God has prepared for you, time does not really matter. As of today, they’re my couple with the quickest engagement.

What got me also excited was the fact that Dan told me that their wedding will be at Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, as it was their dream to have a destination wedding. If you knew Dan’s situation, it would be sort of a challenge. Being a full-time worker for Gawad Kalinga is not the most financially rewarding career and it takes a special breed of people, who believe in such a worthy cause and at the same time  passionate about serving God. But I am a witness of how God blesses his faithful servants like Dan and the fact that I am able to capture their wedding day is a testimony of how God provides for his children as Dan and Colleen received so much help from everyone in order for their dream wedding to push through.

roadtrip

Ilocos Norte is one of the most scenic places to go to in the Philippines. Particularly, the town of Pagudpud has been recognized by many as one of the best beaches in the country. After the reception, we headed to the Bangui windmills area, another town close by Pagudpud and we decided that this would be the perfect place to shoot their portraits. Here are some of my favorite takes from that day….

Collen looking very lovely here…

VIVA CEBU!

February 27, 2009

Back from a wonderful and blessed 9 day trip in Cebu and there are so many stories to share. My main purpose was to attend our Single’s for Chirst International Convention held at SM Cebu City. It was 3 days of getting to know more about Christ and learning to be a better Christian. I was really blown away by the workshops and I learned how to be a “Fisherman for the Lord” and how to “Walk on Water”. I’ll tell you more in detail in my future posts. Here’s a few images from my trip…more to come!

Love for God.

After our conference, some of us decided to stay and explore what Cebu was to offer and we were so blessed to experience God’s wonderful creations.  There were so many places to go to and within three days we were able to visit some of Cebu’s “not so usual places to got to ” like Moal-Boal beach and experience seeing “Pawikan” or Sea turtles , which are so rare to see. Also, the food was glorious! and if you know where to go, the food can be really cheap. Special thanks to Sheila Lacustaltes and her super nice parents, she’s our SFC chapter mate who hosted our stay and showed us around her town. I have officially fallen in love with Cebu.  More stories and images to follow here’s a glimpse from our adventures.
