I’m finally settling in with married life and it’s really been so hectic before, during and after the wedding. I’m blessed to have Heidi since we are both photographers and she understands the busy cycles of being a wedding photographer. I was in the U.S. for a solid month from May to June. It was quite an adventure since I went around the U.S. My itinerary was San Francisco – L.A. – New York – San Francisco – L.A. It was tiring going around but I believe it helped me a lot in sharpening my skills and thinking of new and creative ideas to shoot . I’d like to share a preview of things that I’ll be posting this month from my shoots there.

Save the Date! Nes and Trina are getting hitched this coming July 4. They are our friends from our Singles for Christ (SFC) Community. Jasondeg and I sat down with them a few weeks ago to discuss their engagement and we came up to create something simple yet different. I’ll leave you wedding guests hangin’ and you just have to wait till their wedding reception in order to see what i mean…One cool thing about this is that almost all the major suppliers belong to our SFC community. Trina’s make-up was done by Mela Jimenez. Their wedding coordinators are Junie Romero (my lovely girlfriend btw) and Len Ocampo of Amaris events. Special thanks to Raphy Concepcion for coming along to help us out.

After our Single’s for Christ Conference in Davao last Feb., some of us stayed to go sight seeing in Davao. One of the places we went to was Samal Island. Our newly engaged friends’ Tristan and Gen was with us so I took the opportunity of taking a quick engagement shoot. I had limited time to shoot since we dedicated the day to recreation (or more of sleeping I must say since most were really tired from the conference). What can you do in 30 minutes and with a 50mm lens?  A lot if you already have a vision of what you want to shoot. As a photographer there are so many external factors that sometimes you cannot control and you need to do your best with the time and resources you are provided with at a certain situation. Here’s how you can make the most out of shooting in 3o minutes at the beach with one lens. Congratulations Tristan and Gen!

Boracay Engagement Shoot: Sam and Meileen

December 5th, 2009

Its December and for wedding photographers it signifies the start of  peak-wedding season. Our studio’s sched is crazy to say the least with lots of consecutive-days shooting. What a great way to start my December with an out-of-town shoot in Iloilo. I just arrived in our hotel, Iloilo Midtown Hotel,  and we’ve been so blessed [...]

Its December and for wedding photographers it signifies the start of  peak-wedding season. Our studio’s sched is crazy to say the least with lots of consecutive-days shooting. What a great way to start my December with an out-of-town shoot in Iloilo. I just arrived in our hotel, Iloilo Midtown Hotel,  and we’ve been so blessed to be pampered by our couple. From constant email updates before our trip, being picked-up at the airport, scrumptous chinese food at the hotel for lunch and providing us with WIFI connection. We are really flattered how Meileen, our bride,  went out of her way to really make our stay as comfortable as possible.

We were greeted by the bride herself – the hotel is owned by the bride by the way. We’re really excited to shoot their wedding tomorrow but before that I’d just like to share Sam and Meileen’s engagement shoot we did last July in Boracay. I wanted to share this sooner but Meileen asked me to hold this blog post so she can surprise her friends in Iloilo. We shot the two the day before our mentor’s wedding, John Mateos Ong, last July 2.  Meileen’s make-up was done by fab make-up artist, Madge Lejano.

We went to Alta Vista Resort for our first set. I love the place as it offers a stylish location to shoot Sam and Meileen. We started by the pool area.

Groove is in the Heart : Cyril and Ferdine

September 21st, 2009

This has got to be one of my favorite Before I Do Sessions this year.  From the ancestral home of Cyril and the clothes they planned and wore (along with my help)…everything gave out a retro vibe. This has got to be one of my favorite Before I Do Sessions this year.  From the ancestral home of Cyril and the clothes they planned and wore (along with my help)…everything gave out a retro vibe. In line with the whole theme, I decided to make the images look old school. Cyril and Ferdine were so game to try out anything which made this a one of kind groovy shoot!

A homage to Cyril’s grandparent’s. Did I mention this ancestral was periodic 60′s-70′s architecture that’s why I suggested to them that they wear clothes similar to that era.

Before I Leave…

Photographs are meant to be shared and not kept…I know I’ve been a bad blogger lately and I felt guilty the other day when a friend of mine asked me how come I haven’t been posting more on my blog. Its not that I don’t have shoots, which,  is in fact the opposite. No more [...]

Photographs are meant to be shared and not kept…I know I’ve been a bad blogger lately and I felt guilty the other day when a friend of mine asked me how come I haven’t been posting more on my blog. Its not that I don’t have shoots, which,  is in fact the opposite. No more excuses! Before I leave for Bora to attend to two very important weddings and do a quick prenup shoot for a couple we’ll be shooting this December,  I’d just like to share a few of my favorite images from my recent shoots. I promise to share more when I get back. Time to get into vacation mode…off to the beach!
