Hello there! It’s quiet here on my site. So many have happened lately and the dust is just settling in so to speak. Here’s a quick run down of what just happened

- Super peak season just finished  which is usually December 2012 to Jan 2013

-  Hyds and I are expecting a baby and she is into her 5th month of pregnancy now. So Feb. was a month of adjustments for us since Hyds had the usual hardships of a first trimester preganancy.

So here I am getting back into the blogging game once more. There’s a few changes that you will see on this site wherein I will be focusing more of my non-wedding photography such as food photography and fashion/editorial work. Also, I will be trying my hand at giving more photography tutorials soon.

I am still and will always be a wedding photographer. I just want to expand and share the other things I am doing. I will still be posting previews of my wedding shoots here but for more images head on over to our Imagine Nation Photography website. Click on here Carlo Cecilio of Imagine Nation Photography.

Well, to kick things off again. Let me just share with you a recent wedding I shot with Hyds last weekend. As wedding photographers we always want to show our work from beginning to end, that we’re not just a one trick pony. For the couples out there, that’s the best way to see how a photographer manages the whole day and you can see their skill sets in action.

Here’s some of our faves from the day.  But for the complete set head on over to their complete album.

Also, here’s their same day edit photo slidshow. Trying out my hand in incorporating videos with still shots. Take a look :)

Bay Area – Alameda, California Wedding : Michael and Angela

August 7th, 2012

After dozens of emails and a few conversations on skype, I finally met and shot Michael and Angela’s wedding last May 19.  The two met while they were studying in graduate school. After dozens of emails and a few conversations on skype, I finally met and shot Michael and Angela’s wedding last May 19.  The two met while they were studying in graduate school. Even if they were based in Washington D.C., the two decided to have their wedding in Alameda, California, which was Angela’s hometown where she grew up. It’s really a small world. It turns out that Angela also studied in Manila till high school before she moved to the U.S. She went to the same school where Heidi, my wife, studied and they somehow were introduced to each other before.

Honestly, I really was clueless where Alameda was until I researched it on Google. All I knew that it was beside Oakland and near San Francisco. In my own description, Alameda is a town by the bay. The feeling is very laid back and it has a lot of old Victorian style houses. Even Coral Reef Inn and Elks Lodge where the couple stayed and had their reception, reveals a lot of history and gave out a rustic and homey feel.

This really was my first time to shoot a wedding in the San Francisco-Bay Area. The last time I was there was a quick weekend trip and I shot two engagement sessions in one day (Eric + Fritz & JT + Gucci). Everything felt new, different and unpredictable as compared to being in my comfort zone whenever I’m in L.A., since I’ve already shot two wedding there ( Al + Gi & Justin + Crisa ).

I am blessed and grateful to shoot Michael and Angela’s wedding. Everyone was warm and welcoming…I also need to give credit to Mike and Angela for being so cooperative and so “game” to try whatever I ask them to do to get a shot that I wanted to do…Again congratulations!

Ok, I think I’m talking too much already. I’ll let the pictures tell the story. Enjoy!

Thank you also to Joel Ilao for being my second photographer for this shoot…I could not have lasted this day without his help. Also, here’s the same day edit slideshow I made which we showed during the reception.

Finally! I’m happy to share with you that I was part of the team who created the Starbucks’ 2011 Planner. Last July, Starbucks hired me to shoot images for their upcoming planner. The idea was to showcase some of Starbucks Philippines’ popular and unique stores in Metro Manila and provincial stores namely – Tagaytay, Batangas, Baguio,  Bacolod, Cebu and Boracay. It was a different and challenging experience since I was out of my comfort zone from shooting weddings and primarily shot the storefront and interiors. So what are you waiting for? Start buying your favorite Starbucks drink so you can get your free planner!

Back in Singapore

I was not scheduled to go back to Singapore to teach Purpose Driven Photographer SG. However, Jay Jay got sick and was hospitalized for acute gastroenteritis and could not travel. So last Wednesday, we decided that I would replace him. It was a good thing my weekend was free. I believe there are no coincidences or that things happen by chance but God always plans things for a reason. I was talking to Jay Jay and told him maybe God wanted him to slow down and rest. Going back to Singapore has been full of blessings and wonderful surprises.

On the first day of my trip,  I bumped into to Francis, a friend from our SFC community, at the airport and surprisingly was on the same flight as mine. He was following Marie, his Fiance. It was his first time there so I brought him to Marie’s hotel and we had dinner at Suntec City.

Then comes PDP Workshop Day. I was going to teach composition and posing for portraits. This was the place I stayed at Tech Whye ave.

I was blessed with the kindness and hospitality of PDP SG Organizers. That’s Glyzel, Stephen and Ledda (front to back). Stephen and Glyzel are getting married on October and will be shot by our mentor, John Mateos Ong. Here we are waiting for our taxi.

After more than a half day of lecture. We all went to Esplanade area to practice shooting. We had model volunteers Kevin, Connie and Shanana. Here are some of my takes from the day.

Presenting the 2nd Batch of Purpose Driven Photgrpahers

After a hard day’s work. Some of our students/friends from the 1st batch took me out. Stephen, Connie, Lorraine and Raymond (her husband) took me to Lao Pa Sat for some authentic hawker food.

After dinner, we headed to Clark Quay to relax and unwind. The nice thing about Singapore is that you’re free to shoot anywhere and the place had so many nice spots to shoot, so we made the most of the evening and fired away.

Finally, I have a decent shot…

Thanks to Connie, Raymond and Lorraine! For a night around town.
